Purchases
What is free, and what costs money
jpaste is free to use for up to 20 snippets, on as many boards as you like, with no time limit and no account. Beyond that, a single one-time purchase unlocks unlimited snippets. There is no subscription, and there will not be one.
Restoring a purchase
On a new device, or after reinstalling: open Settings inside the app and choose Unlock unlimited snippets. Restore purchase is at the bottom of that panel. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it.
One purchase, every device
The unlock is a single non-consumable shared across Mac, iPhone and iPad. Buy it once, on any of them, and it applies to all of them under the same Apple Account. It also supports Family Sharing, so everyone in your family group is covered.
Refunds
Apple handles all payments and all refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Private boards
The three levels
- Plain — an ordinary board.
- Protected — unlocked with Face ID or Touch ID.
- Vault — encrypted on the device with a passphrase you choose.
I forgot my Vault passphrase
It cannot be recovered, and that is deliberate. jpaste never writes the passphrase anywhere — it only ever exists long enough to derive the key. That is precisely what makes a Vault board worth having, and it means nobody, including us, can open it for you or reset it. The board can be deleted, but its contents cannot be retrieved.
Changing a passphrase
Unlock the board, open the privacy menu and choose Change passphrase. You will need the current one.
Screenshots of a private board
On iPhone and iPad no app can block a screenshot. jpaste locks private boards when it detects screen recording or mirroring, and warns you after a screenshot that it could not prevent it. On macOS the system does allow it, and an unlocked private board is excluded from screen capture entirely.
Using the app
Everything pastes as plain text
By design. jpaste never puts styled text on the clipboard, so a snippet dropped into a document takes on that document's formatting instead of fighting it.
Shortcuts and the Action Button
On iPhone and iPad, Copy Snippet and Open Board are available to the Shortcuts app, to Siri and to the Action Button — one press to copy a snippet without opening jpaste. Snippets on Protected and Vault boards are deliberately not offered there.
Language
jpaste is available in 13 languages: English, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.
You do not have to change your device to change the app. Open Settings → Language inside jpaste and pick one; it applies the next time the app starts.
Backing up and moving your snippets
There is no export or import yet — it is planned. For now, your data lives in the app's storage and is included in a device backup. If iCloud sync is available and switched on, your boards are already present on your other devices.

Privacy
